Hi, Chynnerio here!
Still working and drawing and writing and repeat and repeat through my summer. I’m planning to zhoosh up my boring routine but still doesn’t have time to do anything. Hopefully in next week’s newsletter, I will be able to write to you places I have been to.
Here are 5 small things that have made up my BIGGGG week!
Storytelling-animated videos
Learning story-telling animation
Reading on Train: Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow
Please Change Your Hold Music, a hilarious letter by Dr. Steven Schlozman in Letters of Note’s last week newsletter.
From Google Podcast to Pocket Cast
Here you go!
In hope of collecting references and learning animation, I have been watching some storytelling-animated videos, and was OBSESSED with it! It’s really bingeworthy, from the way they edit video to how they tell story, I love it! Here are some of the YouTube Channels I have been watching these days:
In Vietnamese: Can Thi TG, Monsieur Tuna, Tập Vẽ Man
In English: Icecream Sandwich
I got influenced by those YouTube videos, so I decided to give it a try. It’s normally called Storytelling Animation. I’m working through the Animate CC Introduction video from TipTut, and also some techniques to create smooth transition for poses. I’ve drawn some poses for my character thanks to his video. Here are some demos!
Reading on Train: Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow. I’m still just in the first part of the book but I LOVE IT! It’s according to the reading recommendation from Austin Kleon. If you haven’t subscribed to his newsletter, I highly recommend it here.
I have a good laugh with Letters of Note’s last week newsletter, Please Change Your Hold Music. Indeed, there are times (several times!) I called a company, and they put me on hold, with a boring 5 seconds of Für Elise. And you know, the quality is bad. It’s not playing, it’s BLASTING music! I cannot imagine listen to that piece again and again and again, and the letter from Dr. Schlozman has reminded of that nostalgic time. Now, to avoid all those musics and the robotic pre-recorded voice that go like “Hello thank you for calling ABC bla bla”, I only write emails.
I just found out that Google Podcast has been shut down, and users outside the US will not be able to use the app from 30th August. In fact, the app has stopped updated since February, but I didn’t know that, and I didn’t even hear about the shutdown of Google Podcast lol. But luckily I found out about it on time and have moved my library to the new app called Pocket Casts. Here are some of the podcast channels I have been listening to:
NPR Ted Radio Hour for Ted Talk but in the form of radio.
The Mel Robbins Podcast one of my favourite for some motivations in life. I love how she talks and the way she delivers the message, especially there’s a summary of the talk in the note.
Draftsmen for doing Art in general
Life Kit for some tips for managing a better life
I cannot link directly to the podcast because I don’t know which platform you’re using, but you can click in the link above to read the information about the podcast and the link to various platforms.
How’s your week? What’s the most memorable thing you have done this week?
Looking forwards to next week! I’m going to let me once again explore the city and will get to you back in next week’s newsletter!
Love you infinitely (As always)
