Things to cheer up during winter

Creating customised gift is such a win win situation, you have fun with the project, and the receiver is overjoyed as the gift is a unique one in the world.

This time, I have made a cup for my friend:

It’s a simple project - I asked her some things that she likes, and they are cats, leaves, flowers, and stars, then, I started drawing, took about 10 minutes. But the joy that brought her is immense, and seeing her smile makes me remember why I like creating customised gifts for people. Well, it started as a portrait during birthday, and then a whole illustration, then now, a cup. I love creating gifts, as it’s a way to express that you are important to me, and I will not just pick a random gift and give it to you.

Small things like these, make people happy.

But it doesn’t stop at gifts that make people happy…

In Germany, winter has come, and it’s cold and dark. But sometimes, there is a glimpse of sunlight shine through, and for a brief moment, I can feel a short warm touch of sunlight on my face. I’ve never thought, as a hardcore tropical son, that I would miss the sun so much. Now, here I am, a touch of sunlight, makes me happy. So happy, so speical that it becomes the highlight of my day! An experience as a whole, when you look closer, is made of multiple fractions of small things, things you may have overlooked, but it stays with you, together create a memorable

Life, when you look closer, is made up of these tiny, overlooked fragments. Together, they create the bigger picture—the experiences we hold on to, the memories we cherish.

A short comic I made about winter in Germany, of how 15 minutes ago, there was still sunlight, and now it’s completely dark, and it’s only 4:30!

So this winter, I’m learning to look for those small things. A touch of sunlight, a friend’s laughter, or even the joy of making something with my hands. These are the moments that stay with me.
